500-tonne crane in action at the UMCG in Groningen

Last Saturday, Wagenborg Nedlift's 500-tonne mobile crane, fitted with a 90-metre luffing jib, was put into action at the UMCG in Groningen. Commissioned by Medicomzes, a total of ten bridge sections were lifted at a radius of 96-metre on the roof of the hospital. Together, these sections form a bridge with a length of no less than 60 metres.

The UMCG has been working on a so-called 'hot floor' for some time now. The 'hot floor' includes the renovated surgery centre, the emergency care plus intensive care for adults and two hybrid operating rooms. From now on, patients arriving at the UMCG by trauma helicopter can be taken to the hot floor via the new bridge and the new trauma lift.
