Close to the old train station in picturesque Assmannshausen, Germany, experts from Wagenborg Nedlift have installed a 150-tonne element of a pedestrian tunnel. They used two 500-tonne mobile cranes to skilfully place this prefab element.

For many years now, Wagenborg Nedlift has had the pleasure of carrying out a wide range of projects for the Genemuiden-based company Breman Machinery B.V., each project more unique than the last. This time round, Wagenborg was tasked with weighing and lifting what is known as an ABIT tool, and transporting it by land and water.
It is the responsibility of each and every one of us to meet the targets of the UN climate agreement that was ratified in Paris in 2016. We all have to do our part for the Paris Agreement. And Wagenborg is no exception. That’s why Wagenborg is working hard on the sustainability strategy that has been created, which contains concrete targets. As part of this endeavour, Wagenborg Nedlift has launched the ‘Road to Success’ pilot in collaboration with Route42.
Just last week we began transporting the first of five 380 kV transformers. In the early hours of this morning, the fifth and final transformer was given an official and ceremonial reception at the Vierverlaten high-frequency substation, west of Hoogkerk near Groningen.
In the town of Frechen, near Cologne, our Wagenborg specialists had the opportunity to use their knowledge and expertise to install various bridge components. The Terex-Demag CC2200 crawler crane was chosen for the project.
Royal Wagenborg and Liebherr Nederland B.V. are joining forces to considerably rejuvenate and to augment the sustainability of Wagenborg Nedlift’s crane fleet in the coming years. This way, the existing collaboration between the two family businesses will be strengthened further. “This partnership proves our long-term focus on the challenge of reducing our footprint together with our suppliers,” says Gerard Bastiaansen, Managing Director of Wagenborg Nedlift. ‘With this co-operation, we not only opt for equipment that best meets our customer requirements; at the same time, we also reduce significant amounts of nitrogen and CO2.”
For some time now, the high-voltage power network around Antwerp has been undergoing a major enhancement and upgrading project. Elia, the network operator, is constructing various new connections, which means that the high-voltage substations also have to be adapted and expanded.
There is nothing to see on the outside, but inside the composting plant at Twence it is bustling with activity. There, the construction of a brand-new composting line is in full swing. Due to the increasing supply of green waste, Twence is expanding its composting capacity significantly. The new plant will also replace the composting line that was destroyed by a fire in 2019.
